Bears/Boys - Game 3

Football Night in America on NBC and the Bears drop game 3 to the Cowboys by a score of 34-10.

There's not much good to say here. The play of our TEs was encouraging. We didn't miss any field goals or extra points. Benson scored a TD.

Rather than write a 10,000 word post on all the horrible things Grossman did, I'll make it really simple: everyone's got him figured out. Those great games last year? He sneaked up on people. Now defenses know: he doesn't step up, you can pressure him, and when you do he loses his vision and telegraphs passes. Or throws them into triple coverage. And yes, the offensive line shares some blame for the sacks, but the Bears had a hand on Romo easily a half a dozen times that he got away from. Rex has had something like 25 runs in his professional career - a staggering 22 of them have been taking a knee. He won't run and teams know that.

And folks, when the offense was doing its job (check out the first half time-of-possession), the Bears D shut down arguably the best offense in the league. This loss rests squarely on the shoulders of the offense. By the way, has anyone seen Cedric Benson? Last I saw him, he was scoring. I still don't understand how he goes missing in games.

So now we're off to Detroit next week. We're banged up and need a gut-check.

I think T.O. just caught another pass.

I could write a novel about this game and all the aftermath/implications, but I'll try not to...

Rex needs to be benched. I've been a huge fan of his before he was even drafted by the Bears. I've always thought he was our best chance to have a franchise QB, but something has changed with him this year. The big plays are gone, the consistency is non-existent, and he can not create anything by himself (See Tony Romo on Sunday). Grossman is the kind of guy who looks great when the defense stacks the box to beat the run, the o-line blocks perfectly, the reeivers run great routes & get separation, and the running game goes well. If anything goes wrong or breaks down, Grossman is unable to step up & compensate by making plays himself. It's gotten to the point where his confidence is shot, and I don't think he has any chance to ever be a success in a Bears uniform. Quite a sad day to be a Bears fan...

Moose Muhammad better be gone after this season. He completely threw Rex under the bus this week, saying that we did a perfect job on Rex's 1st pick. Sorry, Moose, you ran a lazy route, didn't get out of your break, and didn't make any effort to catch, or even knock donw, that pass. You are an old, slow, arrogant, overpaid, underachieving slouch of a crappy teammate. You've played with 2 starting QBs in Chicago, and thrown both under the bus. Maybe neither of them was a hall of fame talent, but the fact is you were brought in and given a huge contract to elevate our passing game, and you've done nothing but suck since you've been here. You are hogging playing time that would be better spent developing one of our truly talented WRs, like Bradley or even Hester. Good riddance.

Not much to say about the D...I thought they played a great game, but got to a point where injuries & fatigue were too much.

Here's hoping none of them are too serious...the Bears need to win (and should be able to) at least 2 of the next 3, all divisional games. They need to get to 500 and stay close to GB while waiting for these guys to recover.
